“What is the best thing about freesurfing as opposed to comps?”
“You can go as hard as you can and as high as you can. You don’t have the worry of being eliminated when you’re freesurfing.”

How will your Black Knight video submission separate itself from the other guys clips?
“You’re gonna have to wait and see… The intro’s kinda fruity though.”

What’s one of the main goals you have in the freesurfing realm?
“I would love to be a successful freesurfer, it’s a great lifestyle and some of the locations you get to visit are amazing. And I’d be getting paid for some thing I love doing. It doesn’t get better than that.”

Are there any destinations you want to tick off your list to get some diversity in your footage?
“There’s so many it’s hard to pick one: Mentawai’s for me… I know it’s been done and seen so many times, but I’ve never had a chance to go and there are all sorts of waves there that are so rippable, there’s tubes and what ever you want. The Ments seems to have it all.”

Which freesurfers do you find inspiring?
“All of them. They all have different personalities which helps to tune their steez.”

What’s more important to you, good photos and videos or a few comp victories?
“A bit of both would be amazing. Winning events is great and you can do really well financially, but freesurfing is always fun and the best way to grow your profile within the sport.”

Do you think the gap between freesurfing and comps has narrowed due to the antics of people like Jordy and Dane?
“Definitely, if you were watching a comp and those two weren’t wearing rash-vests, you wouldn’t even be able to tell you were watching a heat. And plus… You’d probably be able to tell it was a comp anyway because of the booming beach commentary. So yeah...”

How do you think freesurfing will remain fresh and current?
“With the web side of things going crazy right now, there’s going to more and more direction for freesurfers around the world to show there style and push each other to new limits.”
