Say Hello to Carissa

Photographer: Andrew Christie

In the inner-Sydney suburb of Pyrmont, Waves waits street-side for a model to emerge from Fuel TV’s studio. Earlier that week, Waves had agreed to photograph one of Fuel’s “Smokin’ Hottie” presenters for the mag’s infamous “Cos We Can” section. A flurry of car horns and “take it off” calls from the nearby traffic bogans alerts Waves to the hottie’s arrival. The blonde bombshell struts toward Waves in a pink Playboy bunny robe and high heels.

“Hi, I’m Carissa,” she says confidently. “Where do you want to do it?”

“Well, um, we, er… want to do it, I mean shoot you around the corner,” mutters a mesmerised Andrew Christie, Waves’ photographic guru for the afternoon.

Carissa

The 22-year-old Miss Universe Australia finalist, jazz singer and part-time Wests Tigers cheerleader, de-robes and slithers up to a white gate in a skin-hugging bikini.

“My dad has a garage full of McTavish long boards; he’ an old-school surfer” continues the hottie, while Christie snaps off digital bullions. Time stands still for the next 23 minutes as Carissa captivates everyone’s attention (including an ant which tries to make its way up her left leg) with her slight body twinges and minor eye flutters.

Then, as Carissa kisses Waves goodbye (not literally), the obligatory, “Do you have a boyfriend?” plea spurts outta Waves’ mouth. “Yeah, I do,” Carissa answers, before re-applying her bunny robe and sauntering back into the studio. “Damn it,” cusses Waves, “I guess we’ll have to check Carissa out via the tele like every other pleb. And we thought we had pull in this town!”
